Domain names are digital property, they can be bought and sold with ease. While the best domain names are already taken, you still should strive to secure the .com version of your name and business when possible.
If you truly can’t get your name, then getting a .co or .me is an acceptable alternative. You also need a website and you need a domain name, it isn’t an optional “nice to have” – it’s a must.
When picking your domain name, remember this: no dashes, no underscores and no numbers (impossible to remember: this-is-an-awful-domain123.com).
My first ever domain name was “SuperAwesomeDating.com.” Great for a joke website on dating, but not ideal for a serious business. When you get the name right, everything else seems to fall into place.
Namecheap – My domain registrar of choice. Low prices, low renewal rates, and easy to use platform and no B/S upsells.
Sedo – Buy, sell and park domains. Platform I use to monetize unused domains.
