Namecheap is my go-to domain name registrar of choice. I’ve been using them for all my domains for over a decade for one simple reason, they offer the best prices and have low renewal rates.
On top of that, you can register a domain name for up to 10 years in advanced at the current price. Unlike web hosts and website builders which only allow you to do year to year.
So if that web host increases their renewal rates… well my friend, you’ll just have no choice but to pay more.
Namecheap
Low prices on domain names, low renewal rates, free WHOIS protection and good support.
I use Namecheap for all my domains and use them in my tutorial videos.

So here is a breakdown of what Namecheap is used for 👇
Domain names

I started off using GoDaddy myself for domain names simply because they were so popular at the time thanks in part to their super bowl ads.
But once I did a bit more digging around for more cost effective alternatives, I found that Namecheap had the best prices for the most popular domain extensions around.
Namecheap is primarily a domain name registrar and offers a wide variety of domain extensions beyond the traditional .com, .net, and .org. You can register domains with country-specific extensions (.uk, .ca), newer generic extensions (.tech, .store, .app), and many others.
Their pricing is generally lower than many competitors and you can lock in the low rate for years in advanced.
Domain name features I like:
- Free WHOIS Privacy Protection: Namecheap includes their WhoisGuard privacy protection service for free with most domain registrations, helping protect your personal information (like email and physical address) from public WHOIS databases.
- Domain Management Dashboard: Their control panel makes it easy to manage multiple domains, configure DNS settings, and set up domain forwarding.
- DNS Management: Namecheap provides free DNS hosting with customizable records, allowing you to point your domain to any hosting service.
- Email Forwarding: Basic email forwarding is included with your domain registrations.
- Grace period: Forget to renew your domain? Namecheap offers a grace period of one month before you lose your domain name.
The only slight issue I have with Namecheap is if for some reason you change your mind and want a refund on a domain name, they can reverse the transaction but the money will be locked up with Namecheap.
Store credit if you will, to be used for your next purchase.
Easy domain transfers

Namecheap offers a straightforward, simple transfer process to move your domain name registration over to them (called a domain name transfer), often with discounted pricing for the first year after transfer. They also frequently provide transfer-specific promotional codes as well.
If you’re interested in moving your domain name from a web host or website builder make sure the domain name is eligible to be moved first.
- According to ICANN, you’re not able to move a newly registered domain name within the first 60 days.
- You also can’t transfer a domain name if it is within 45 days of it’s renewal date.
So as long as both these things are not true, your domain name is eligible to be moved.
Then at your current web host or website builder “unlock” the domain then request a transfer code. Once you have that code, enter the domain name you want to transfer to Namecheap and pay for the domain name transfer.
Email hosting

The next service that stands out from Namecheap is their email hosting. Simple, affordable, basic.
If all you need is an professional email inbox for your website then checkout Namecheap. They provide dedicated email hosting without the expensive overhead of offering other tools.
I personally would recommend the starter plan if you’re a solopreneur. You get 1 inbox but can setup multiple email aliases. This is what I do personally.
I have one inbox, but I have an alias for my website, social media, YouTube channel and affiliate programs I’m apart of.
The starter plan currently offers 5 GB of storage which is more than enough if all you’re using it for is email communication. The pro plan is more aimed at teams with multiple inboxes and increased storage.
Features I like
Safe and strong 2FA: Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) two-factor authentication. This robust security feature requires verification through a secondary device for every login attempt, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access to your email account.
Powerful anti-spam protection: Every email plan comes equipped with sophisticated anti-spam technology that automatically scans and filters each incoming message for potential threats, keeping your inbox free and secure from unwanted content.
Professional email signatures: Customized signatures featuring social media links, logos, and images to enhance your professional communication. Select your brand’s color palette to maintain consistent visual identity across all your business correspondence.
Unlimited email aliases: Create as many virtual email address per inbox as you like.

Reseller hosting
Reseller hosting is allows you to you purchase hosting resources in bulk from Namecheap, then divide and sell these resources to your own customers.
This business model allows you to brand the hosting services as your own while Namecheap handles the technical backend infrastructure.
Specific benefits I like:
- WHM/cPanel access for account management.
- White-label solutions for your branding flexible resource allocation.
- Ability to create custom hosting packages.
- Free WHMCS billing system integration 24/7 technical support.
As your hosting business grows, Namecheap’s reseller plans allow you to scale accordingly. You can start with a basic package and upgrade as your client base expands, ensuring you’re not paying for unused resources.
WordPress hosting
“Managed” WordPress hosting means the host takes care of everything to do with managing your hosting account. From fixing issues to restoring backups to updates and even creating subdomains or install WordPress.
You can install the WordPress CMS on any of Namecheap’s plan, however their “managed WordPress hosting” offer is actually an a separate business vertical from Namecheap called Easy WP.
Still powered by Namecheap mind you, their just a new business off shoot. Personally I would go with shared or VPS hosting with Namecheap. If you want a good managed WordPress host then use my host, WPX Hosting.
Anyway, here are their tiers:
- Starter: 50k visitors a month, free CND, 10 GB of storage.
- Turbo: 200K visitors a month, free CDN, 1.5x the CPU and ram, 50 GB of storage.
- Supersonic: 500k visitors a month, free CDN, 2x the CPU and ram, 100 GB or storage, 99.99% uptime.
The starter plan starts at around $6 a month (with the first month free, the Turbo plan will set you back $12 a month roughly and the Supersonic plan is a steal (for the value you’re getting) at around $20 a month.
Final thoughts
So in a nut shell this is what Namecheap is used for. They are primarily a domain name registrar first and foremost.
But as their business has grown, they’ve expanded beyond simply providing domain name at great prices and now offer very competitive prices for both web hosting and email hosting.
If you have any questions the drop me a message.
Till next time,
-David
